Find a new favorite artist
As a huge music fan, I am always looking for a new favorite tune. And in today’s world of smart phones it is easier than ever to explore the changing world of music. I use Apple Music to fulfill all my musical needs, but there are plenty of other streaming services available that are great tools to explore your interests and find that perfect record.
Find a new favorite restaurant
Everybody loves food and having a favorite restaurant is a must. As a newer resident to the beautiful city of Nashville, TN I have had the opportunity to discover some great eateries in my four months here. Every time I go out for dinner I try and pick a place I have never been. Now this method has obviously had its ups and downs but what’s life without a little adventure.
Make a new friend
Having relationships and building a strong community is key to living a happy life. Being the social person that I am, making friends has always come naturally to me. But for someone that isn’t as social, making friends can seem like a daunting task. Try saying hello to someone new – you could make a connection that will last a lifetime.
Reconnect with an old friend
It’s important to work on old relationships that may have fallen through the cracks. The other day I thought about one friend in particular whom I had not talked to in quite a while. I was troubled because I had no idea what was going on in his life, even though we used to be very close. So, I decided to send him a text and just catch up. We had a great conversation and decided to make plans to meet up in the near future.
Go on a walk around town
Our world is fast paced. Everyone is looking for the fastest, most efficient way to accomplish everything. So slowing down may seem like a stupid idea but trust me it’s not. A great way to do this is simply by taking some time out of each day and just going for a walk. Not only are walks a great way to unwind and relax they are also a great way to get some daily exercise.
Learn a new skill
Whether you want to cook a new dish or learn how to play the guitar, learning a new skill is both challenging and rewarding. The practice it takes to build a skill from the ground up will take patience, but watching yourself progress as you get better is fun and boosts confidence. No matter what skill you want to learn or how proficient you may be at the task, there is always a place to start getting better. So go ahead! Choose something you want to learn and give it a try.
Read a book
Reading a book is a great way to unwind, have fun, and learn something new. As an avid reader myself I can attest to all the benefits that come from reading books. It is also a very easy hobby to get into. Whether you go to the public library or to a book store, there is no shortage of ways to find a great read. There are books for every interest too! From epic fantasy novels to history books for all you history buffs. So get out there and get lost in the pages of a new book.
Volunteer in the community
Getting involved in your community is a great way to give back and help those that may not be as fortunate as you. There are plenty of opportunities in every community to help out. You can do anything from volunteering at soup kitchen or homeless shelter, going to the pound and playing with some of the animals, or just going to your local park and picking up some trash that is laying around.
Go to an event
Getting out of the house is almost always a good idea, and attending an event is great way to experience what’s going on in your community. Weekly farmers markets, art shows, live concerts, and sports competitions are a few of the many opportunities to attend an event that you are interested in. There is always something exciting happening somewhere, so if there aren’t any local events happening in your area try planning a trip.
Go somewhere new
The world is big with tons of awesome places to see. Traveling is one of my favorite things to do. However, travel is not always easy to accomplish – we all have busy lives and responsibilities that we have to take care of. But that shouldn’t stop you. Taking a big trip is always fun and exciting! And there are plenty of places to see in your own back yard too! Taking a weekend trip to somewhere near you can be just as fulfilling, so get out there and explore.
