Feeling Down? Some simple ways to handle the rough days.

We all have those days when nothing seems to be going your way , bad news, miscommunication, canceled plans all are the making of a not such a good day .

I know that I can get totally frustrated and grumpy when things go out of sync, try as I might to be organized and prepared some things are just out of my hands.

The thing is, how do we get through one of those days?

Dwelling on things that we have no control about is just wasted energy, getting angry at situations does not really help. Being sad, well that’s just how we feel at the time.

If we flip this around and pull the positives things may seem a little better. Feeling sad and angry, well they are feelings – at least we have those, at least we can feel something! Once you get feeling positive other positive thoughts can’t help but follow and before you know things don’t seem as bad.

We can feel positive because we are warm and dry, we have a place to sleep, and we have people that love us. We live in a world that is beautiful. Trees, flowers, mountains, oceans, blue skies and so much more, all these things are around us, we just need to stop for a moment and take a look. Take in the beauty.

Going out for a walk or watching an old sitcom can be great distractions, giving you time to be calm and not really think about things. Who knows you might bump into someone and grab an unexpected coffee or find an interesting old bookshop to look around.

One thing that we can be sure of, something that won’t ever let us down, something that we probably take for granted.

The sun will set in the evening and tomorrow it will rise again heralding a new day and who knows what that day will bring.
