The Life Challenge program is set to host the Connecticut Community for Addiction Recover (CCAR) Recovery Coach Academy. Recovery Coach Academy is a 4-day intensive Peer Recovery Coach training program that provides individuals with the knowledge and skills to expand their ability to guide, mentor and support anyone who would like to start or sustain long-term recovery from an addiction to alcohol or other drugs.
WHAT IS A RECOVERY COACH?
Anyone interested in promoting recovery by removing barriers and obstacles to recovery and serving as a personal guide and mentor for people seeking or already in recovery. Peer recovery coaches provide non-clinical services designed to help individuals and families sustain their recovery.
WHO CAN BE A RECOVERY COACH?
- Credentialed addiction professionals
- Treatment center support staff, volunteers and alumni
- Staff from behavioral health and government agencies
- Representative from inpatient and outpatient centers and sober living homes
- Individuals, family members and advocates of recovery
Lori Obernauer, Ph.D.
Lorie is an addiction recovery life coach, educator and founder of Treatment Professionals in Alumni Services (TPAS), a national organization whose mission is to collaborate with and support individuals and agencies that provide long-term recovery services
Carver is the Alumni Coordinator at Pine Grove Behavioral Health and serves on the board of directors of TPAS. He is a nationally recognized facilitator of the Back to Basics Workshops developed by Wally Patton.
